About Dr. Smith

Thank you for stopping by my page to learn a little more about me!

Walnut Valley Unified School District has, and always will, hold a special place in my heart. In second grade I began attending Maple Hill Elementary, then moving to Chaparral Middle School, and graduating from Diamond Bar High School. I was very involved in school, running track, cross country, participating in several clubs, and helping with major events on campus. Out of high school, I then attended Cal Poly Pomona, graduating with my BA in Liberal Studies. After graduation, I immediately started at the University of La Verne, obtaining my teaching credential and masters in education. I began my teaching career in Pomona, teaching at a middle school and then moving to elementary. In 2006 I began my career in WVUSD, teaching at Quail Summit and then Vejar, teaching Kindergarten, first, and third grade. It was during my time at Quail Summit I decided to head back to Cal Poly to obtain my administrative credential.

Fast forward to 2014, I made the best decision of my career and came to Suzanne Middle School as the Assistant Principal. Suzanne is such an amazing place to be and I have felt so honored to be part of the community. Our students, parents, and staff make every day a blessing. In 2015 I decided to continue my educational path, heading back to ULV for my Doctorate in Organizational Leadership. The knowledge and application strategies will forever be part of my leadership journey and I am so thankful to be able to implement best practices on our campus. In March, 2018, I became Principal of our school and my excitement and dedication continues to grow each and every time I walk on campus.

Personally, my family still lives in the community and my niece nephew are students in WVUSD. I love reading, traveling, spending time with family, and running. I have run 7 marathons (including NY, Chicago, and Paris), 46 half marathons (number 47 in October), and countless 5k and 10ks. I love setting goals and working hard to achieve them. I am also a huge Yankee fan, so if you want to stop by to chat about baseball, I'd love to see you!

If we haven't had the opportunity to meet yet, please stop by and say hello. My door is always open to our community!
