MUSEUM BONUS 
1.  Visit a Science Museum, like California Science Center (http://californiasciencecenter.org/), Natural History Museum (http://www.nhm.org/site//), or Discovery Science Center (http://www.discoverycube.org/oc/).  There are pros and cons to each museum.  California Science Center and Natural History Museum are right next to each other close to USC.  Parking is $10.  CSC is free, and there's plenty to do there to spend the day.  There's also activities and exhibits to do for a fee, like IMAX, Pompeii and Endeavour, to name a few.  NHM and DSC both have admission fees, and for a family, it can really add up.  I've had family memberships to both(tax deductible), and my kids and I really enjoy going there for a few hours at a time.  DSC is right next to the Santa Ana Main Place off the 5 freeway.  I've had parents drop their child and friends off for a few hours while enjoying some retail therapy.  It can get really crowded there at times, especially on holidays.
2.  Bring a camera (phone ok), notebook, and pen. Be sure to take pictures of your adventure through the museum at your favorite exhibits.  If you go with friends, you may use the same pictures, but each person must do their own write-up.  Take good notes for your write-up.  
3.  Your write up should include pictures with detailed captions/paragraphs.  Be sure to include what you learned and what you enjoyed most out of your day at the museum.  The examples shown in class have about 8-10 pictures spread throughout the ~5 page single space, 12 font write-up.  It will likely take a few hours to complete.  
4.  Have a wonderful time, and learn lots at the museum! :)  
 
NEWS ARTICLE BONUS
1.  Find a science article 1+page(s) (not including online advertisements) online, newspaper, magazine, etc.  Cut, print, or photocopy the article to include with the write-up.
2.  Read and highlight important information in the article. 
3.  Write one paragraph summarizing what the article is about. 
4.  Write one paragraph on how the information in the article impacts the future.  
5.  Be sure to cite your evidence in both paragraphs.  
6.  One point will be given per article write-up, provided that the write-up is quality work.
