Connecting With Middle School Students

Is your child distant from you? Do they respond with one word answers to your questions and occasionally share what happened in their day? Or maybe they aren’t helping with household chores? Have you tried developing a closer relationship with your child but feel like you’re getting nowhere? Are you looking for ways to open communication with your child?
When my oldest daughter, Samantha, was in 5th grade, I wanted to continue the close relationship I had with her when she was younger. I was frustrated that she wouldn’t talk to me about her day and I didn’t like the fact that I yelled at her because of my frustration. It was a vicious cycle. Then, I attended a class where I learned strategies that helped open up communication. This class helped me to establish loving relationships with both my girls.
If you are interested in learning strategies to improve communication between you and your child or children and would like to sign up for this class, please email me at [email protected].

Classes will be held every Tuesday beginning February 24 and ending March 31 in Room 32. Meet and greet time will begin at 6:30p.m. with class starting at 6:45p.m. and ending at 8:45p.m.. The cost is $20 which includes six class meetings and a book.

Thank you for taking the time to read this! Have a wonderful new year!
